On October 18th we packed our bags and flew to Houston, TX for the annual Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). We met up with thousands of fellow Registered Dietitian Nutritionists from across the country where we learned about the latest news on nutrition and human health and sampled the newest nutrient-rich food products to hit supermarkets. Living in New England has its ups and downs. Yes, it's cold and snowy in the winter, and sometimes getting from our sleepy suburbs to the city of Boston can take what seems like hours (the traffic!), but when autumn rolls around, we couldn't be happier. The leaves change their color from green to orange, yellow, and red and our farmers' markets come alive with the best fall has to offer: crisp, local apples, squash, and pumpkins of every size and shape imaginable. So on this week's show, we celebrate pumpkins and our love for this incredibly nutrient-rich fruit. Janice was born in New England, but two of her sisters live in the Pacific Northwest. That's why she goes out there a few times each year. Recently, Janice traveled to Olympia, WA for the wedding of her niece, Jen.
