Hummus is more than a dip for vegetables and crackers. We love it as a spread for sandwiches, an ingredient in salads, and even in desserts. On this week's show, we celebrate National Hummus Day with two new recipes: Hummus Brownie Bites and a Mediterranean-inspired recipe for Hummus, Chicken & Grape Tartines. Hummus is made with chickpeas, tahini, oil, spices, and salt and it comes in a variety of delicious flavors. Lemon hummus anyone? We teamed up with Sabra for the show, so tune in for the recipes and news on an amazing giveaway.

Most of us eat the majority of our protein at dinner, but experts now say that you'll build and maintain the most muscle if you spread your protein intake throughout the day. To that end, getting 20 to 30 grams of protein at every meal---breakfast, lunch, and dinner---is your best bet. Joining us on the show this week is protein expert, Chris Mohr, PhD, RD who talks a lot about creative and delicious ways to get more protein at your morning meal. And we weigh in too with our new recipe for Protein Power Breakfast Parfaits made with lowfat cottage cheese (or Greek yogurt), nuts, fruit, and high-protein cereal. And if you're wondering if it's okay to add protein powder to your smoothie or if protein plays a role in weight control, we'll be ready to answer all of those questions too.

If you're not already obsessed with the Middle Eastern-inspired recipes from chef Yotam Ottolenghi, you will be after you listen to this week's show. Ottolenghi is one of the most famous chefs and cookbook authors in the western world, and we love his flavor-filled recipes and the way he takes vegetables from ho-hum to spectacular. Ottolenghi was not a guest on the show (though we did invite him), so Liz's friend Suzanne subbed in! Suzanne is even more enamored with Ottolenghi than we are. On the show, we share a recipe for honey roasted rainbow carrots, which was inspired from a recipe in Plenty More, and we dish about an Ottolenghi-themed dinner party Liz and Suzanne just threw featuring recipes like Salmon Steaks in Chraimeh Sauce and Couscous with Dried Apricots and Butternut Squash.

2014 was a breakout year for kale! This humble cruciferous vegetble, which comes in a whopping 50 varieties, made its way into the hearts and stomachs of families everywhere. In fact, we don't know too many kids out there who didn't tried a kale chip or two this year. Joining us on the show this week is Catherine Walthers, author of KALE GLORIOUS KALE, who tells us everything there is to know about kale--- storing and prepping tips, creative ideas for adding it to everything from granola to soups to salads, why kale loves to be massaged---and she also shares her recipe for Potato Kale Latkes.
