Cooking with the Moms
Back in November, we attended the annual meeting of the American Dietetic Association, and we had a chance to cruise through the exhibition hall and sample a bunch of new food products. We nibbled on everything from gluten-free burritos and lower-sodium flour tortillas to Sauteed Greens Bruschetta with Fresh Mozzarella compliments of cookbook author, Virginia Willis. Tune into this week's podcast and read our blog for a complete rundown of our favorite food finds!

We've done a lot of live TV interviews in our day and we've held a lot of cooking classes, but we've never cooked "live" online ... until this week. Thanks to Ustream technology, on Wednesday, December 15th at 1:00pm EST, we spent 30 fast-paced minutes sharing clever tips and easy recipes to inspire a love for vegetables, and our demo aired live on the new Birds Eye Facebook fan page. The two recipes we demonstrated were our Cheesy Spinach Bake featuring frozen, chopped spinach and a new recipe for Winter Squash Risotto, starring frozen cooked winter squash. If you've never made risotto before, give it a try. Our kids could eat this rich and creamy side dish every week … that's how much they love it! If you missed the demo, you can still watch it online.

The holiday season is all about giving, so on this week's podcast, we feature food blogger, Lydia Walshin, founder and director of the delicious nonprofit organization, Drop In & Decorate. According to Lydia's website, Drop In & Decorate is a simple concept: bake some cookies, invite friends, family, neighbors, or co-workers to stop in and help decorate, then donate your cookies to a local food pantry, emergency shelter, senior center, lunch program, or other community agency meeting the needs of food or shelter. Drop In & Decorate parties allow people to give back, and ever since the program was founded, over 24,000 cookies have been shared with those in need. This week's show is part of the first-annual Holiday Food Podcast Project, so be sure to visit our blog for a listing of the other participating podcasters.
