Cooking with the Moms
On today's show, we chow down on probiotics, friendly bacteria that may support the immune system, regulate the digestive tract, and ease symptoms of lactose intolerance. Consuming foods swimming in bacteria may not sound appetizing, but when good bacteria like lactobacillus or Bifidobacterium are ingested, they help to keep us healthy. Probiotics can be found in supplements as well as in everyday fermented foods including yogurt, soy yogurt, kefir, and sauerkraut.

On this week's show, we cook up family-friendly dinners that are so easy, you don't even need a recipe. Everyone can probably relate to those nights when you walk in the door at 5pm and have no idea what to make for dinner. For some people, mac & cheese, frozen chicken nuggets, or a pizza become the dinner du jour... But all those "fast" foods aren't always the most nutritious. To make last-minute meals easy, we share lots of ideas for making quick dinners -- things like quesadillas, soups, and sliders -- from the foods you may already have in your pantry, and we promise that each and every one of them will be nutritious and good for your family.

On this week's show, we saddle up and head out on the range for the latest news on beef nutrition, tips for choosing the leanest cuts of meat, and a recipe for Lemon Thyme Rub, just in time for Father's Day. Last week, Liz traveled to Napa Valley, CA for the Live Well 2010 conference, sponsored by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association. There, she met ranchers (some of whom were women!), scientists, and top California chefs, and she had an opportunity to cook at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America with fellow dietitians from around the country.
