When Michelle Obama announced her Let's Move initiative to end childhood obesity, we jumped for joy (okay, maybe not literally, but certainly figuratively). The goal of Let's Move, in the words of the First Lady, is "to solve the problem of childhood obesity in a generation, so that children born today can reach adulthood at a healthy weight." Sadly, since 1980, rates of childhood overweight and obesity have tripled. Today, over a third of America's youth weigh too much. The initiative strives to tackle four things: Healthier Schools, Physical Activity, Accessible and Affordable Healthy Food, and Healthy Choices. That's certainly a tall order, but we believe Obama's challenge to all of us -- parents, school administrators, restaurants, supermarkets, the food industry -- is not just timely and critical ... it's doable. How do you feel about Let's Move and what's happening in your home or community to reverse the obesity/poor nutrition tide?

Does your child burp at the dinner table, diss your home cooking, get up and down from the dinner table, or run around at a restaurant when he should be sitting politely with a napkin on his or her lap? If you've struggled with good manners, be sure to tune into this week's show for advice from our guests, Alex Von Bidder and Leslie McGuirk. Alex and Leslie wrote the wonderful new children's book, Wiggens Learns His Manners at the Four Seasons Restaurant, and they know first-hand what it takes to get kids focused on good manners.

On today's Cooking with the Moms' podcast, we feature a stick-to-your ribs, family-pleasing recipe for Ham & Broccoli Hash Brown Casserole. The inspiration for this dish came from a Facebook fan who sent us a saturated fat laden hash brown casserole recipe and asked us to give it a makeover. Not only did we slash the bad fat and the sodium in the recipe, we added some broccoli for extra good nutrition. In the show, we also share some fun facts about potatoes.
